Capesize vessels kick off the week on a roundly bearish footing with charterers very much in control of negotiations with July just a few days away. Trans-Atlantic business is under notable pressure with the trans-Atlantic RV assessment losing around US$ 3,000 day-on-day to settle in the US$ 38,000s and prompt owners to concede to US$ 35-36,000 daily for early July dates. Front haul freight rates are barely better with negative sentiment on this run putting the US$ 70,000 daily line in danger for next week on vessels of 182,000 dwt.
