Pacific-based Panamax vessels are facing a more challenging market now than they did in early June with a slump in steady cargo demand having aided charterers in pushing their rate ideas lower for inter-Pac business on Kamsarmax tonnage with RVs now down into the US$ 19,000s daily range. Owners of vessels of 76,000 dwt are already heard to be accepting rates of US$ 17,000s for Pacific RV business. Atlantic-based Panamaxes are holding steady, by comparison, with front haul trips trading just below US$ 30,000 daily on modern tonnage of 82,000 dwt from the UK-Continent area based on CJK redelivery.
