Scrap charterers have taken a 33,000 dwt vessel at an impressive US$ 13,150 daily for trip to Morocco. A sweeping rate of US$ 21,000 daily was allegedly agreed on a 51,000 dwt for a trip with scrap to the Eastern Med. Severe weather conditions contribute to a temporary shortage of tonnage, resulting into improved rates. A trip to West Africa was covered on 40,000 dwt at US$ 16,000 daily. From the Western Med clinker charterers are linked with an Ultra at US$ 14,000 daily for a trip to West Africa. The owners of an over-aged 29,000 dwt failed four times on grain cargoes from Ukraine and are now ballasting her to the ECSA.
